And it comes to an end...

Well, after 5 months of trying our hardest to work with the owner, Jason and I decided that it was time to leave Blue Lake Resort. We both we're feeling unappreciated and burnt out from the 80-90 hour work weeks.
We are currently staying at my parents' place in Chilliwack, as we try to figure out what our next step is. I am currently working for Spruce Hallow out of Abbotsford and Jason is looking for work and going on the road with me.
If you'd like to say or want to get a hold of us, please email us at jandjbradford@gmail.com. Or you can call us and leave a msg at 604.869.4130 or 604.793.4910
Thanks to all of you, who were in the loop during our last couple of weeks up at Blue Lake, for the support and help moving. It was appreciated.

Our 8 yr wedding anniversary...May 25, 2010

We didn't do anything super special but we sure had an awesome day!

We left the resort at about 6:15pm and headed to Penticton for the night. We stayed at the Best Western. It's a sweet hotel and we total recommend it to everyone. If we ever need (or want) to spend another night or more in Penticton, we'll definitely be staying there again.

At about 9am on the 25th, we left Penticton and headed down Hwy 3a and met up with Hwy 3 in Keremeos. We didn't really have any plans for the day, just to stop and sight see whenever we wanted.

When we got to Keremeos, we made a pit stop at the Information Center. That was so worth the stop. The attendant there gave Jason and I a pamphlet outlining all the best places to look for neat and different rocks. Even places to find agate and opals! We checked out one of the bigger spots (a big slide just west of the town) and found some pretty rocks with red and green ribboning in them. But we've yet to identify what they are.
Town of Keremeos

From Keremeos, we headed into Headley. I wanted to take Jason to a little shop that advertised that it sold rare rocks and gems.  It was the neatest little store we've ever been to. It really did have a lot of different types of rocks and nick nacks and just stuff. (LOL) We found our anniversary present there. They're a set of goblets. Here's the write up that came with them: "Rainbow Onyx Stone Goblets: These unique stone goblets are hand crafted from onyx, a form of agate. These minerals mostly occur in cavities of eruptive rocks and eruptive lava. They have a beautiful banded structure with successive layers almost parallel to the sides of the cavity." The minute Jason read that these were made from a type of agate, I knew that we had to have a pair.

After we left Headley, we realized that we hadn't given ourselves enough time to go out for dinner and make the stops through out Manning. (We had said to the boss' son (who was covering for us) that we would be back at the resort for around 7pm.) So we scooted down the highway but ended up stopping for about a half hour so that we could photograph the biggest (and most gorgeous) brown bear we've ever seen!! He was magnificent!!

We went to Bozzini's for dinner. I think we've been to that restaurant for almost every anniversary. It's kind of become a tradition for us.

It doesn't seem like Jason and I did much on this day. But just spending the time alone together was the most fun for me.

I still can't believe how much God has changed Jason and I's hearts. If it wasn't for Him, we would not have been able to spend this awesome day together!!!

The cat came back the very next day...

Well...not really and then again, sort of.

There once was a white feral cat that lived at Blue Lake Resort. It had made its home and territory the whole resort. And then along came Lucky and his family. Lucky likes to have his own territory too. Night after night Lucky and the "resort" cat had meetings about who could have what part of the resort. Every meeting ended with a nasty fight. And both cats would come away with ugly injuries.
One morning Lucky came home to his family so bruised and battered that his left eye was swollen shut and his nose was bleeding. His family had had enough of this fighting and decided to put a stop to it.
Lucky's dad tried scaring off the "resort" cat with loud noises and shots from his BB gun. (He never hit him.) But those attempts didn't work. The "resort" cat continued to come about. So they set out a live trap for the him. And on the first night they got him.
He was a nice looking cat. He actually looked like his mama was a Siamese cat and his daddy was a Bobcat. As well, he had beautiful blue eyes and of course, like most Siamese, they were crossed. He was much, much larger than Lucky. And Lucky's family was surprised that Lucky had survived so many "meetings".
In the end, the "resort" cat was sent to a place better suited for him. And now Lucky roams the whole resort with no fear.
The End!

Playing in Lillooet

Lillooet is the kind of town that makes Jason and I want to move there. It's quiet and quaint with mountains surrounding it and the mighty Fraser river running through it. It might get busier in the summer but this past Sunday, it was just perfect.

Did you know that Lillooet was the last place to ever have camels in BC? Did you even know BC had camels? I didn't. They used them for packing equipment to and from the mines.

Jason was quite happy to find this large piece of jade.

Max is getting big! I really believe that he's grown about 3" in height! He doesn't look so much like a puppy is this pic. LOL And he and Jason seem to have the same funny grin on their faces.

Max is slowly getting used to water. He seems to like it better if one of us are in it too. But he waded in and out of it as we all walked along the river's bank.
Here's a good one of Max. It's super hard to get him to stay still for a couple pics. But this one didn't turn out too bad!!

Isn't Lillooet gorgeous!!!? We'd so like to live here!!!
They've started growing grapes here, as a test. They're hoping that if it works, they'll be able to bring in tourists for wine tasting tours. It's definitely a great place for such a thing. They also grow cherries, apricots and ginseng. According to Lillooet's website (www.lillooetbc.com), their economy is booming. So in the future, it may be a place for Jason and I to consider. Who knows!

Thought I'd add this one in. I'm always the one behind the camera but thought it might be nice for me to have a pic of Max and I too.

Well, stay tuned for more adventures from Jason, Max and I. I know we intend to continue to discover our new home and area. I'm really looking forward to it too!!

Introducing...MAX!

Hey everyone, sorry this has taken soooo long to be posted. Been super busy. We've had Jason's brother, Josh, up here helping us for the last 2 weeks. (You'd think with him here, it would actually make our work load easier but no lol) And then we had Easter wknd with the Lodge and almost all of the cabins booked. And then of course, we got a puppy! So needless to say, I haven't had much time to blog. Oh and I've been working my butt of trying to get the resort's website up and running. Which, hopefully, will be up by the end of next week. (*fingers crossed*)
Anyways, this post is all about Max! He's a 5 month old (probably six now, but forgot to ask the previous owners when his birth date is), rotti/lab cross. He's the sweetest puppy ever and he's gonna be HUGE when he's full grown. His paws are the size of hockey pucks lol. He loves to play and is enjoying the wonderful kennel and dog house that Jay and Josh built for him. He's adapting really well to being a strictly outside dog. And he and Lucky (our cat) are slowly becoming friends. Lucky tries to get snuggles out of Max but Max just wants to play with him and Lucky ends up hissing and swatting at him. It's kinda cute cause it actually makes Max get even more rambunctious around Lucky.
I'll start with this picture first. It's the beginning of Max's kennel. 5' fencing.
Here we have Josh working hard, in the rain, at Max's dog house. Which, I might add, will be insulated for the winter months. He's so spoiled. LOL
This is what Max's dog house looks like from the front. His roof has a rubber finish, very chique! But it works and didn't cost a thing!!
And here we have Josh putting cedar shakes on the side of the dog house. This gives it a nice look finished look and keeps it water proof too.
And here's his kennel area. It this pic, it's not done. But you can see the post that Jason and Josh went foraging for.
Here's Max!!! He was really not sure about being in the kennel and was was quite unhappy for the first little while.
Max's finished dog house and door to his kennel. These pics are taken within an hour of him arriving from Kelowna. I left the house at 5am to be in Kelowna, well Westbank, for 8am. Was a great drive there. On the way home, well, lol, lets just say that Max is not one who cares to sit still!
His finished kennel. Sorry I didn't get the rest of the yard. The fence is nice and high, so even when he get's bigger, we're confident he won't be able to get out. And he can't dig either, as Jason put the fencing down about a foot. GOOD WORK JASON AND JOSH!!
And here's a great pic of Max. Jason is trying his best to keep him still and seated, which explains the look on his face. We wanted a pic of one of us with Max, so that we can show his size as he get's older. We really do thing he's going to be a big dog. Which is cool with us!
We're doing well with his training. He does stay and sit. The staying really only happens when we've got a treat in our hand. But we've gotta start some where. He's smart dog, he'll get it eventually.

Lake Cabin 3...it's our newest!

This is Lake Cabin 3. It's so cute. It's one of my favorite. It is $65/night and $70/night on long weekends.
It sleeps 2 people, has kitchen table/chairs, cold running water, toaster oven, 2 stove top elements, coffee maker, pit toilet (at the back) and fridge.
I'd like to put this flooring into the other 2 lake cabins. I've already mentioned it to the boss & he was quite receptive!
I like this little all-in-one! It has the sink, fridge and stove elements.
Your view from your deck. As with the other lake cabins, you also get a private firepit and bbq. This cabin currently does not have its own dock. However, there are plans to build one soon!

Lake Cabin 2...it has a hot tub!

This is Lake Cabin 2. Yes, it's rustic. It is our most popular cabin. It can sleep up to 6 people. But has the room to sleep another 2, if you were to bring some air mattresses.
Like Lake Cabin 1, it has it's own firepit, bbq, deck and dock. As well as a fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and stove. It has hot and cold running water and a bathroom with a stall shower. It also has 2 bedrooms and a hot tub. (This seems to be the biggest draw with this cabin.)
Lake Cabin 2 is $150/night without the use of the hot tub, for a group up to 6
$160/night with the use of the hot tub, for a group up to 6
$10 per night, per person for groups over 6
                         Maximum 8 people

This bedroom has a queen bed. And the one below, has a double bed.
The bathroom. Has toilet, sink and stall shower.
The cabin is heated by this efficient wood stove. And of course, you have satellite TV, compliments of Blue Lake Resort.
The couch in the picture above is a futon, and pulls out to be a double bed.
The hot tub. Comfortably seats 6 people.
 Your view from the deck!
